The Lodge Forest Visitors centre. Take to the trails, watch the wildlife, see if the Ospreys have returned. For the adventurous why not try the treetop adventure Go Ape.

En-route home stop off at the Aizle Coffee shop at Ballat crossroads just 0.5 miles from Loaninghead and your holiday cottage for that coffee, tea, glass of milk, scone and jam, home made cake, purchase some to take home with you.

Now the snow is beginning to thaw we can go back to spending our weekends exploring the great outdoors in central Scotland. If you fancy jumping in the car and travelling a little further afield there are so many amazing places just an hour from Loaninghead.
Loup of Fintry. A 94 feet waterfall which has been described as the most stunning in central Scotland. You’ll find it just a few miles outside of the village of Fintry. After heavy snow melting or heavy rainfall you will see it in all its glory. You could stop of to the Coffee shop at Knockraith Kate Rodgers for something to eat or gift shopping. Courtyard Café.
Lake of Menteith a beautiful wee lake just off the Carse of Stirling with the picturesque Port of Menteith sitting on the banks. Go there in the summer and you can catch a ferry boat out to Inchmahome, one of several small islands on the lake and the site of an ancient monastery which was a refuge for a four year old Mary Queen of Scots en-route to Balloch Castle for her sail to France.
Callander one of the gateways to the Highlands. Callander is right in the heart of ‘Rob Roy’ country. and has an abundance of hills and scenic walks in the surrounding area. Have a picnic on the banks of the River Teith. Callander walking routes.
Milarrocochy Bay, Loch Lomond. Tourist head for the west banks of the Loch. but head up the east side and you’ll find a secluded pebbly beach and the perfect spot for freshwater swimming, tucked away beyond Balmaha. Stop off at the Oak Tree for something to eat.
