Summer Treat in Glasgow

Summer holiday season is well and truly here.  Great Days out. Passport to summer fun.

Glasgow Museums  Truck art from India, a dancing skeleton from Mexico and penguins from Antarctica you can explore the world in a day at Glasgow Museums.  This summer collect a stamp from each Glasgow Museum you visit to fill in your FREE passport to summer fun.  

Collect all 8 stamps for different Glasgow Museums and get a Museum Explorer Certificate.  You can pick up a FREE passport from any Glasgow Museum reception or First Bus driver.

Enjoy Kelvingrove, with its dinosaurs, Egyptian mummy and Sir Roger the Elephant whilst at Riverside, there’s the locomotives, the trams, the Subway and Main Street, plus more to to explore.  The displays have lots of interactive features to inspire young minds and if it’s a nice day, the summer beach outside Riverside is a great way to make a fun day out for all the family. 

Visit People’s Palace for an out or world experience with their spacethemed workshops or drop in Kelvin Hall fro some dine themed arts and crafts all for Free.

Follow the Trail   Our Wullie Big Bucket Trails.

Until 30th August, there are a whopping 58 “Our Wullie” statues in the city and many more beyond.  The trail is the first ever nationwide public art trail and is raising money for children’s hospital charities.  Hunt down “Wonder Wullie” “Wee Wullie Winkle” and “Our Rod” and take some great selfies with this Scottish Icon along the Way

Mural Trail.

These original colourful artworks are dotted all around the city – touring round the engaging  murals makes for a great day out.  Spots St. Mungo on High Street, look our for “Honey I shrunk the kids” on Mitchell Street and track down Glasgow’s Panda on Gordon Lane.

Glasgow Science Centre.

Always a favourite with kids of all ages, the Glasgow Science Centre boast hundreds of interactive exhibits in the Science Mall, Planetarium Scotland’s largest screen IMAX Cinema, Science Show Theatre a fantastic café and shop.

Merchant Festival. 25th – 28th July, various venues.

Enjoy arts performance, live music, great food and brilliant entertainment across the Merchant City.  Including a dedicated Family Day out on 26th July, when you can expect the best in walkabout performances and interactive activity in Merchant Square.  Expect Unicorns, Crows, Misleading Men and More.  Then swing around the dance floor at the Family Ceilidh.
